Got on the water around 11:30 and started working around Boy Scout Island down toward the dam on the west side of the lake to the dam.

Lots of red devils and peacock bass from 1 to 1 ½ pound size.

Water temperature was 80-81.6 degrees partly sunny and light variable winds.

We started out using topwater and larger minnow type lures... 4 or 5 inch size. NOTHING.
I picked up the 4# test ultra lite with a 2 inch white Senko and got a one pound peacock. They prefer smaller lures and flys to more match the size of the shad we have in the lake... 1 to 2 inch size. Switched to fly rods using the chartreuse flys and picked up red devils and more peacock bass. Those little peacock were aggressive. Got most of the fish around wood and along the steep drop offs. Toss the fly as close to shore as possible and fast strip it back toward the boat. If the fly is in the water it is in the strike zone of the peacock bass. Same with the little Senkos. Got some wicked strikes right beside the boat. The fly is right on the surface and the strikes are amazing to watch. Use a "strip set" to set the hook... so if the peacock misses, the fly stays in the water.

For the red devils... a small crappie type jig fished like a plastic worm. See the RD, cast the little crappy jig, work it very slow hopping along the bottom right beside the fish. Nice clear water and you can see the jig and the strike. We were using 4# test on an ultra-lite spinning rod...If your using a fly rod, same thing... just go slow , very slow.

Here are a few pictures of the many fish we caught... Thank you Andre for a fun day on the water.
Aloha,
Stan
