Spawning Peacock Bass in JULY ???

On Tuesday we found some peacock pared up and acting like they were spawners... They stayed in one place guarding the area and defending it from the plastic worms we tossed at them. Small fish under 2 pounds... but they sure looked and acted like spawners.
