Re: sb1313

I don't trust him. I feel that he has ulterior motives. Sad to say this about a fellow LHS mule. I do hope the stocking program gets help, but it's hard to take seriously when they should be looking at bringing in Florida or F1 strain lmb, not northern, which is what we already have! They should als...

Re: Casting reels: shimano vs. daiwa?

Well, the title of this thread says "casting reels" so... In casting reels, Shimano rules for sure! They are reliable, easy to service, and perform the best in their price category, for the most part. I also much prefer their centrifugal brakes instead of Daiwa's magnets. I will say that t...

Re: Clearlake Northern California 29 Nov to 1 Dec 2016

Nice write up of your trip! I remember seeing Clear Lake on TV with Ish Monroe, Ike, Jared Lintner, and others. Looks like an awesome fishery, but very intimidating! Happy Holidays!
I hope you can get those pics posted someday!

Stan, I remember reading about Guerrero and Baccarrac when I was a teenager and wishing I could go there someday! Still wishing at age 40-something! Thanks for the nice story!

Small tuc today 7/10/14

Went fishing for about an hour today. First time in about 3 months. Went to my normal spot across from BSAI only to find a group/family of homeless had set up their camp (tent with blue tarp) there. Been fishing there for over 20 years, but now I feel uncomfortable there, so I will be looking for a ...

Also another really good reel I've found recentky for a decent price is the daiwa tatula. You can sometimes find the type r model for 150 but I've been using it to skip jigs under docs (only other I reel I can do this with is the revo MGX) really good braking system and silky smooth for reasonable ...

I remember seeing pictures of Red Piranhas out of Lake Wilson at the old Wahiawa Sporting Goods! My friend caught one back in high school. They were real piranhas, not pacus!

If I remember, you also have a Daiwa Exceler? I definitely think Shimano's VBS centrifugal brake is a lot easier to dial in and master than Daiwa's magforce systems. Try using the Caenan instead of the Daiwa. Start with 4 brakes on and go lower from there. Also, use an aerodynamic lure like a liples...

That's a good solid reel and a good price! I hope you get a buyer soon. Shimano baitcasters are the most reliable and user friendly on the market. Very easy to break down and maintain as well. I guess I am the opposite of you Tommy, I don't care for spinners at all. I only use them when I have to, l...

Hey Jeff, How was the fishing yesterday? I don't know if you recall a beat up grey Nissan Sentra with a "Member B.A.S.S." bumper sticker passing you (late for work) on the freeway near pearl city around 3:45pm? I saw you had your four legged friend in the passenger seat! Does he have to wear a seatb...

Caught a few at home after striking out at Lake Fork

My wife and I did our road trip (590 miles round trip) from Houston, TX to Lake Fork in Alba/Emory/Yantis (Stan's town) once again. This was our 6th trip there and 7th guide trip. It was by far the worst fishing luck we've had there so far. Our guide was the same as the last time, Eric Wright http:/...

I would like to strangle the person(s) who released the red devils, cichlids (besides tucs and tilapia), and stickfish into the lake!
1. Florida strain Largemouths
2. Crappie
3. Bluegill
4. Spotted Bass (probably wouldn't do well in the lake, but worth a try)
5. Butterfly Pavon (Tucs)
